Athlone Boat Club is delighted to announce that our annual Regatta will take place at Coosan Point on Saturday June 17th, reports club PRO Padraig Hegarty. The event will be another busy day for Athlone Boat Club with crews expected to compete from across Ireland‘s four provinces.

Clubs can register at www.rowingireland.ie

The planning for the event is well underway with volunteers hard at work to ensure that the event is one to remember. If it is anything like last years regatta then those attending are in for a fabulous day of rowing. Lets hope that Lady Luck is on our side with the weather.

On Friday the 16th of June the platforms for boats to launch from will be put into place along with speaker systems, toilets, bins and all the essentials required to hold the event. Parking will be made available locally for both visiting guests and visiting crews.

This years event will focus on junior (14-18) and masters rowing over 1K at the inner lake of Coosan Point.

With water safety support provided by Athlone Subaqua Club members and land support by the Athlone Order of Malta. Athlone Boat Club will have a large number of official umpires after a very successful training course this past April, this will ensure that races are on time and well monitored.

Finally, we would like to thank the local residents, Inland Waterways, Westmeath County Council, RNLI, The Lough Ree Inn and all those who share Coosan Point for the support with this event. Our biggest event of the season would not be possible without everyones support.
