Our U17 hurlers travelled to Timahoe on Monday night for round 4 of the U17 B championship to take on a large panel of hurlers from the combined team of Park Ratheniska Timahoe.
This was a tough game of hurling but Portarlington took the lead from the start with an excellent goal from Sean Moran, after he chipped the goalie when taking a free.
Very good consistent hurling from all on the team meant plenty of blocking and hooking, perseverance in getting their hands on the sliotar and getting the points up on the board, (and one other goal).
Good chunk of extra time at end of second half meant legs were starting to tire but the lads didn’t give up even when PRT came back within 2 points.
Penalty was given to PRT but Conor Maher stood up strong in goals and cleared it off the line. One more tussle for the sliotar and last point of the match went over the bar to give Portarlington the win. Well done lads!
