Open invitation to all our club members, supporters, parents and all in the community of Sixmilebridge, Kilmurry and beyond to attend the official opening of our indoor arena on Friday October 27th at 7PM.

Bring the kids, bring the grand parents and bring a neighbour for what is a historic night for the club when a dream and vision become a reality.

Its hard to believe its 7 years ago this November since planning permission was granted for the arena which set the wheels in motion for a fundraising campaign which brought the whole community together with events like Strictly come dancing in December 2017 and Clares Fittest Family in April 2019. In between the sod was turned in June 2018 - keeping with the vision and timeline promise delivered by a great visionary and Chairman Paddy Meehan which saw Fr. Harry, another great pioneer open the foundations.

Current Chairman Syl O'Connor has overseen the completion of the project and spoke of the pride felt by all in the club and community with the opening of the arena. He said that "Sixmilebridge GAA has always been a pioneer as regards looking to the future and this included the Tommy Morey Memorial stand at our main grounds, another was the installation of floodlighting at O'Garney park when people thought it was a mad idea and night hurling would never take off. The arena is another milestone - the population of the area of Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry has grown exponentially in recent years, our playing numbers across hurling and camogie have never been higher as can be seen with 4 adult hurling teams and 3 U13 hurling teams as an example so there is an onus on us as a club to keep providing facilities for the youth of the community. Thankfully the great community sprit in the 'Bridge has been kept alive and a huge thanks to all who continue to support us. Our weekly club lotto is the heartbeat of the club and when you look at the return of what €5 a week is giving I'm sure all will feel its worth it."

More to follow on the arena opening in the coming days -
