Our Feile girls got their campaign off to a successful start with victory over Clan na Gael at home on Sunday.

While showing signs of rustiness in their first Feile outing, a brace of goals from both Caoimhe O’Rourke and Lily McBennett saw Dromintee build a 4:07 to 1:02 lead at the break with the help of a strong breeze. The midfield partnership of Maggie Boden and Caitlin Carnegie worked hard to lay the foundation for the forwards to pick off their scores but the team will be troubled by the number of misplaced passes across the hour.

Further goal strikes from Grace Conlon, Rosie Fox and Lily McBennett (2) repelled any sense of comeback by the Lurgan side in the second half.

Restricting the Blues to five scores will undoubtedly strengthen the girls resolve with the experience of Sarah Murphy and Emma Toale to the fore while the younger crew of Aurika, Emer, Ava and Sinead all curtailed the best efforts of the Clans forward line.

The girls can be pleased with aspects of their play but there is much work to be done for tougher tests ahead.

They are due to play Carrickcruppen away in the quarter final over the coming weeks.

Final Score: 8-10 to 1:04
