St. Finnachtas NS Sixmilebridge 3-06 Ballyea NS 1-09 Cumann na mBunscol report - By Liam Mulready, Seán Conlon, Ronan Lynch and Jack Monahan
We were all very nervous heading into the dressing room we took our seats and Mr Lynch gave us a very motivational team talk and we did a couple stretches then Cillian Rafferty lead us out to the pitch. We then did a quick warmup and got our photo and we were ready for go. We were playing against the breeze in the first half and we were shocked by Ballyea’s start. We went into the dressing room 2-3 to 0-8. Goals by Jack Reddan and Jack Fitzpatrick, 2 frees by Liam Mulready and a point by Caelan Hayes were the players who scored in the 1st half.
In the second half we got off to a good start with 2 frees from Liam Mulready but Ballyea replied with a goal and a free to put Ballyea up a point to bring it to 1-9 to 2-5 but Sean Conlon got a point from our puck out and then Blake Corbett got a goal to send us 3 points up with time up. And with some chances by Ballyea we secured the win 3-6 to 1-9 and the celebrations were great and Cillian Rafferty made a great speech and we got couple pictures with the cup and then Mr Lynch gave a Heart-warming speech to us in the dressing room and then we sang the way to McDonalds and we got food and then we went back to the bridge and went beeping around the village and saw a couple icons such as Ms Casey and Ms Lynch waving the proud saffron and blue colours of Sixmilebridge. It was a memorable day and one that we will never forget.
Indeed the Hurling year at our school has been one of the best ever with our school also winning the Clare INTO 7s and St Flannans Hurling tournament in 2024. A Big Thank you to all the teachers who instill a culture of education, fun and Hurling into us every day and we thank all our coaches in our school for giving us memories and friendships for a lifetime.
