Senior Football League - Division 4:  Longwood 0-10 Bective 3-8

Longwood’s footballers lost out to an in-form Bective team at a sun-kissed Longwood on Sunday morning.

With the club grounds looking resplendent in the glorious weather, both teams endeavoured to produce an entertaining game of football.

Both teams enjoyed plenty of possession across the hour.  They were evenly matched, and it could be argued that the final scoreline was a little harsh on the home team.

As with most games, goals proved to be decisive.  Longwood will be disappointed with the concession of two second half three-pointers, both of which could have been avoided.  These ultimately proved to be the pivotal scores and try as they might, Longwood could not fashion a goal-scoring opportunity over the hour.  That said, they did kick some excellent points courtesy of Sean Sheridan, Dominic Finnegan and Harry Hogan.

Unfortunately, every time they built some momentum; the sucker punch of a goal would take the wind out of their sails.

So, a second successive league loss for Longwood.  The improved fitness levels and  strong work ethic of the team continues to shine through but the players will be well aware that they need to arrest the current run of results.

Next up is a visit to Moynalty next Sunday morning.

Longwood: Sandijs Buls, Cian O’Sullivan, Sean Carpenter, Mark Kennedy, Bob Maguire, Tomás O’Brien, Dominic Finnegan (0-1), Niall Mulvey, Sean Sheridan (0-3), Ciaran Sheridan, Harry Hogan (0-3), Louis Butler, Ben McLoughlin, Anthony Healy (0-2), Adrian Maguire (0-1).  Subs: David Coloe for Butler, Conor M Dixon for McLoughlin, Sam King for Ciaran Sheridan, Josh Meagher for Adrian Maguire, Jason Kerrigan, Kevin Maguire
