Congratulations to our junior side who collected some early-season silverware after defeating hosts Cullyhanna 1-12 to 2-7 in the final of the McVerry Cup on Saturday evening.
As was the case in the semi-final win over Silverbridge, the game was superbly hosted by St Patrick’s with Dromintee captain Sean Og Hoey collecting the cup from Aine Mackin who presented on behalf of the McVerry family.
After starting their Junior B league campaign with back-to-back draws, Dromintee looked set for their first loss of the season as a talented Cullyhanna side held sway for the majority.
However a late Cathal O’Neill goal and a clinching two-pointer from Sean Og Hoey secured a narrow win for the visitors.
As has been the case all season, the lads put in a terrific effort and their bravery and graft was rewarded in the end with a number of eye-catching performances.
Congratulations to Daithi McCreesh who was the latest youngster to make his senior debut.
The side return to league action on Friday evening when they make the short trip to Killean and all support welcome.
