In 1975 Sixmilebridge GAA headed for Feile na nGael for the first time and were domiciled in Youghal, Co. Cork for the weekend. This gave the club exposure to hurling against the best clubs in the country and following that weekend of hurling and craic a form of romanticism evolved between the club and the competition with every young hurler in the parish dreaming to qualify and play in Feile.

Fast forward 50 years and the Feile remains the competition every young hurler wants to win in Clare and last weekend the 'Bridge boys were crowned champions for the 17th time and will now go onto represent Clare in the Division 1 Feile na nGael Competition in Wexford on June 21st.

Paths to Victory
Semi Final: Sixmilebridge 2-11 Clooney/Quin 1-05
Quarter Final: Sixmilebridge 7-12 Ballyea 1-04

County Final - Sixmilebridge 3-09 Corofin/Ruan 1-10
Having lost out in the U13A and U14A finals in the last 2 years the Bridge boys headed for Clarecastle last Saturday in a determined mood for a repeat meeting of last years U14 A Championship final when they faced Corofin/Ruan.
Despite an early exchange of points the Bridge fell behind on a score of 1-04 to 0-01 half way through the first half before clawing back the deficit and following a Noel Duggan goal on the stroke of half time they lead by 1 point.

The 'Bridge hit the ground running in the Second half and a goal from Liam Flannery and Cian Mullins ensured it would be our day as we ran out winners by 5 points.

After the game Charlie Keane who plays with our Minor team presented the U15 Feile Cup in memory of his Grand Father Brendan Keane (a proud Sixmilebridge & Wolfe Tones man) to our Winning captain Liam Flannery which resulted in joyous scenes.
The team took part in the traditional tour of the village and received a great reception from all as its been 8 years since we had the cup in the club.

Well done to all Coaches and players on a wonderful start to the year for the club.
