Minor B League Camogie match report
Match: BSJ B minors V St Vincents B minors.
Date: Friday 11th of April 2025.
Location: St Vincents.
Prepared and ready for battle
First Half
With a gruelling training session, the evening before (that right ladies – Síobhra, Isobel
we promise ) under the belts, it was officially the fourth game of the division 6 minor
league season for the ladies, Shankill conceded our third game. From their heroic win
against Luan, the warriors were eager to go again against Vincents. It was a late start,
and many were already exhausted from a long week in school. That said, they all rolled
up the sleeve’s and encouraged by the words of wisdom from Captain Niamh Thomey we
kicked off. As the first half progressed there were some great battles in mid field where
Tess Casey and Ellie O’ Mahony, won most of them. The Defence were terrific with Robyn
O’Dwyer playing like her life depended on it, Niamh Thomey, Emily O’Toole, Ciara Ryle,
and the versatile Rebecca Keane, kept the score to 4 points and restricted Rebacca Leon
from donning her super woman cape for some time. Meanwhile the attacking warriors of
Ella Gormley, Maria McAlliffe, and Gemma Mc Cullough were busy trying to feed into the
two full forwards, Alannah Hedden and Daisy McHugh. Daisy Mc Hugh’s constant
pressure on the Vincent’s defence resulted in a BSJ goal and the only one of the first
half. After the first half of the battle, the score was BSJ 1-0 Vincents 0-4.
Second Half
Ana Feddis, Beth O’Reilly, and Abi Coyle were brought onto the battlefield for the second
half. Somehow, Vincents were a different team in the second half, must have been
something in the air. Over the next 20 minutes, the shots were coming from all angles
and before we knew it, we were heavily wounded. Vincents scored 4-5 in the second
half.
Post match
Not dissimilar to our battle against Cuala in February it was a game of two halves, and
as I say to the ladies, we win and we lose together as a team and what matters is that
they give it everything and they surely did that. Heads up and we will prepare for the
next battle.
