It was a memorable first Club Trip for our 2016 Girls!

The 2016 girls (U9) group had their first trip away to Cork City on Sat 21st June playing a camogie blitz against Blackrock, St Finbarr’s and Kilbrittain-Timoleague. The blitz was held on the main pitch in Blackrock’s historic Church Road grounds which was in pristine condition. It was a great experience for the girls to test their skills against clubs with such a strong heritage of hurling / camogie. The games on the field were very competitive with an impressive display of skills from the Ballinteer girls. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts, Blackrock Camogie club, who kindly provided food and drinks for all teams and mentors after the blitz.
After the blitz, the group travelled to Airtastic Entertainment Centre for an enjoyable ‘Inflata’ bounce session and well-deserved pizzas for the entire group. The bus journey up and down went faster with multiple ‘sing songs’ with ‘Pink Pony Club’ being sung with gusto by the girls on multiple occasions!

Many thanks to the entire mentor group and all parents who supported the organisation of the day. This trip would not have been possible without the group’s successful Park Run fundraiser in February which was greatly supported by both parents and the wider community. The mentors would like to thank members of the Club Executive who supported the mentors with logistics and planning for the group’s first away trip. Finally, special thanks to Chill Insurance who sponsored a new set of jerseys for this group earlier this year.

The 2016 girls (U9) group has grown from approx. 40 girls in nursery to 71 registered players today. The dedication of the girls to training / Go Games / Mini All Irelands has resulted in huge strides being made this year in terms of skills development across all players. We continue to welcome new players to try out both sports of Camogie & Ladies Football. Please contact us HERE if interested in trying out our sports in the Autumn [no commitment needed – equipment will be provided].
