Introducing Your Club Welfare Officer Committee

Welcome everyone to the new season at Navan Rugby Football Club !
To ensure we continue to provide a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all our members, we would like to formally introduce your dedicated Club Welfare Officer (CWO) Committee.
The primary role of this committee is to lead the safeguarding of all children and vulnerable adults within our club.
We are here to support everyone and ensure that the well-being of our younger members is always our top priority.

Meet the Team

Your CWO Committee is comprised of the following members:
  • Gareth Ward - CWO Lead
  • Lillian Kavanagh - Deputy CWO
  • Helen Wyse
  • Aoife Ryan
  • Gerry Sweeney
Please feel free to reach out to any member of the committee with questions or concerns regarding welfare and safeguarding.

Our Immediate Focus: Vetting & Safeguarding Compliance
Over the coming weeks, our main priority will be working closely with all coaches, team managers, and volunteers who interact with children or vulnerable adults at the club.
We need to ensure that every relevant individual is fully compliant with two key requirements:
Garda Vetting: This is a mandatory background check for anyone working with children or vulnerable adults in Ireland.

Safeguarding Qualification:
This involves completing the required IRFU  safeguarding course.
Ensuring 100% compliance is not just a club rule, but a legal requirement. It is crucial for creating the safest possible environment for our players to thrive in.
Members of the CWO committee will be in touch with team coaches and managers shortly to begin this process.
We will also host a coach and managers briefing to inform all concerned of very recent changes to the vetting application system.
We appreciate your full cooperation in getting this vital work completed efficiently.
Thank you for your continued dedication to Navan Rugby Club.

Let's make it a safe and successful season for all !

Yours in Rugby,
Gerry Sweeney,
Honorary Secretary.
