Silvermines GAA Notes
U-21 ‘A’ North Tipperary Hurling Semi-Final
Well done to our U-21 hurlers and management who overcame a resolute Ballina side after extra-time following a hugely entertaining North U21 A semi-final in Dolla on Sunday. Silvermines led by 1-3 to no score at the beak before Ballina battled back to level proceedings at the finish, 2-8 to 1-11. Silvermines seized the initiative once more thanks to a Luke O’Brien goal in the first period of extra-time and despite the best Ballina could muster the ‘Mines prevailed by the bare minimum at the finish, 3-11 to 1-16. We now face Borris-Ileigh in the final. Please check fixtures for details.
U-21 Camogie
Hard luck to our U-21 side who lost out by 1-11 to 1-5to Eire Og Annacarty in Annacarty on Sunday last. Annacarty built a commanding lead in a dominant opening half to lead by 1-6 to 0-1 at the break. Silvermines battled hard in the second period but ultimately found the gap far too big to bridge.
Junior B County Semi-Final
Well done to our Junior B hurlers and management after Silvermines overcame Carrick Swan by 2-19 to 0-12 in what proved a one-sided county Junior B hurling semi-final in Golden on Saturday. Best of luck to the team and management in the upcoming decider against Thurles Sarsfields. The game is expected to be fixed for this coming weekend. Please check fixtures for details.
