Well done to young Aoife O'Halloran who recently won the Scor na bPaisti East Clare Final for singing. Aoife a wonderful guitarist and singer from Cappa plays camogie with the Bridge and Dad Gerry although an accomplished goalie would not have been a renowned singer so the musical influence must have come from Mum Ciara from Miltown the home of traditional music!

Aoife sang an Amble song  ‘Mary’s pub’ to win the competition. Look out for Aoife as she is definetly going places and is one for the future!

Scór na bPáistí offers competitions in 9 categories:

1. Amhránaíocht Aonair (Solo Singing)
2. Ceol Uirlise (Trad. Group)
3. Ceol Aonair (Solo Music)
4. Aithriseoireacht (Recitation)
5. Rince Seit (Set Dancing)
6. Rince Foirne (Irish Dancing)
7. Rince Sean-Nós
8. Nuachleas (Novelty Act)
9. Bailéad Ghrúpa (Ballad Group)

Sixmilebridge has a proud tradition in Scor and it is hoped that previous interest and recent interest can be maintained and increased with increased participation which will ultimately help to maintain our culture and traditions.

Last year Sixmilebridge won the Ceoil Uirlise (Instrumental Music) Section.
