A lovely heartwarming poem written by Enda Nolan in memory of his friend and great Kiladangan supporter Donal Hackett who passed away last weekend.

OUR DONAL

He was born and bred in Nenagh town
To us a mortal sin
But every time I met that man
I couldn’t help but grin

He called me “you long b#ll#x “
I think he struggled with my name :) !!
But he couldn’t hide his burning love
for Máire and our game

Guaranteed to meet that f##ker
When your dragged off at half time
“Ah Jasus Enda is the game over
You were only getting in your prime “:)

His insults had the opposite effect
which was so very rare
Unlike my dad who gnawed his nails
And pulled away his hair

For Donal was as cool as ice
His temper rarely strayed
He left that part to Máire
For her challengers he prayed

Now our Donals left his Urra home
To pastures warm and new
To sit beside his Máire
Tell her of all that’s new

Our club has lost a good one
To join our fallen clan
But I for one will not forget
Our Dangan Nenagh man

Donal Hackett
Rest in peace
