Our u13s exited their championship tonight with a defeat away to Cratloe.
The physically stronger Cratloe side started well with a number of early goals while Conor Neylon was the solitary scorer for the Miltown side. Two late 1st half goals saw Cratloe convincingly lead at the break.
The youthful team didn't let their heads drop and played a strong 3rd quarter with quick thinking from Conor Neylon saw him find the back of a net direct from a free. The Cratloe goalkeeper was in fine form and made a number of different saves from Podge Devereaux, Eoghan Hogan and Evan O'Loughlin. The Miltown side kept battling with points from Josh Flynn and Conor Neylon reducing deficit as the game drew to close as all available 17 players received significant game time during the match.
Miltown lined out as follows: Daxon Greenan; Sean Twomey, James Cogan, Tadhg Griffin; Micheal Twomey, Josh Flynn, Ronan Killeen; Podge Devereaux and Fergal Queally; Eoghan Hogan, Paudie Killeen, Eamon Devanney; Evan O'Loughlin, Gearoid Keavey, Conor Neylon (captain). Subs: Eli Downes and Dylan Cahill.
Hard luck to all the players and management on a disappointing end to a yea. The year saw a number of impressive wins from both the u12 and u13 during the past few months and development from all players involved.
