Great effort from the Crusheen/Tubber minors yesterday in the Minor B Final in Newmarket against a very strong Scariff/Ogonelloe team.
Crusheen/Tubber started well with a point on the board within 60 seconds from Breffni Horner. Another point from Breffni followed to answer a S/O point leaving it 02-02 after 10 minutes.
A huge free from Ross Hayes levelled it again to 03-03 after 13 minutes. From a scoring point of view it was Ross and Breffni until- in the 28th minute - Eanna McMahon expertly caught a high ball near the sideline about 45mtrs out and - under pressure and striking over his shoulder - scored one of the best scores anyone is ever likely to see. He followed it with another point soon after. Breffni tagged on a free in the second added on minute to leave the half time score Crusheen/Tubber 0-10 Scariff/Ogonello 0-6
Crusheen/Tuibber had started well in the first half but it was Scarriff/Ogonelloe who came out with all guns blazing in the second half. Within 4 minutes they had scored 4 excellent points and were level. Breffni Horner halted their gallup somewhat with a free after 6 minutes. Crusheen/Tubber to their credit managed to keep in touch with a much improved opposition right to the end - and when James Taaffe pointed in the 28th minute there was only a point between them C/T 0-16 S/O 0-17. Scariff/Ogonelloe finished the stronger however and tagged on two more points to win by a margin of three.
