Congratulations to Clonmoney NS on winning the Clare Cumann na mBunscoil Division 4 Hurling title in glorious sunshine this morning in Cusack Park against Bodyke/Tuamgraney. After suffering 6 final defeats including a loss in last years final the Wells school were determined to capture the title this year and started their planning in September 2022 as soon as they went back to school to make sure they went all the way in 2023.

The game was nip and tuck to start with before Matthew Murphy had the ball in the net and added a point to help the winners into a 1-03 to 0-01 lead at the water break. Goals from Gavin Jones and a rocket into the top corner by outstanding Captain Rory Jones had the Clonmoney outfit well in control on 3-05 to 0-02 at half time.

Bodyke/Tuamgraney upped it a gear in the second half but try as they may they could not breakdown the winners defence with Ronan Gavin playing like Brian Lohan in his prime at full back leading the charges. The winners rang the changes with the introduction of some lively forwards including Evan Murphy and also Rian O'Connor who rattled the net for the fourth goal to close out the game and a famous 4-12 to 1-05 win.

Huge congrats to all the boys and especially our own trio of Ronan Gavin, Evan & Matthew Murphy. A special thank you to the teachers who have put in so much time and effort in training the boys since September, Mr. McCormack, Mr. Guilfoyle, Mr. Barry, Mr. Littleton and School GPO Damien McKeown.

Commiserations to Grace McNamara and her team mates who lost out in the camogie final to a fine Barefield NS side - a team who had our own Mary Clunes (Morey) coaching written all over them.
