Our senior side continued their winning start to this years Cusack Cup with victory over St.Josephs Doora Barefield in a game played under lights on the Clarecastle Astroturf.
The game got off to an entertaining start with Darragh Mc Donagh opening the scoring with a point from play before Barefield replied with a goal and a point of their own in the first 5 minutes. Miltown got quickly back into the game with a Euan Lineen point and a goal from Conor Neylon. Cian Mahony got in on the scoring act with a point from play and a fine 2 pointer from a free as Miltown proved more efficient in front of goal. Barefield pulled back a point in the 14th minute before scores from Euan Lineen , Michael Murray and Darragh McDonagh increased our lead. Micheal Murray and Conor Neylon added to the scoreline and the well marshalled Miltown defence restricted barefield to just two more scores before referee Barry Keating blew the half time whistle to leave Miltown leading 1 -10 to 1-04.
Score proved a little more difficult to come by in the second half , Barefield opened the scoring after three minutes before a Darragh McDonagh point re-established Miltowns 6 point cushion. Euan Lineen added to his tally with another free on eight minutes before Cian Mahony launched a superb 2 pointer from 50 yards to give Miltown a 1-14 to 1-07 lead after 15minutes of the second half. The sides traded scores over the closing quarter as Conor Neylon and Darragh Mc Donagh points rounded off a fine winning performance for the lads.on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-10
