The U16 boys put in a great performance on Sunday morning in Keadue in the Champions League semi final 2nd leg. Keadue took the lead slightly against the run of play when they scored from a corner. Indeed Keadue were two goals in front shortly after when the scored from another set piece. It would have been easy for the Donegal boys to give up, knowing they now needed to score four goals to qualify for the final, but they showed great strength and character to get themselves back into the game. Joe Campbell's wide free kick evaded everyone to sneak in at the back post to pull one back before half time. Donegal came out much the stronger in the second half and were level when Joe Leape reacted quickly inside the area to prod the ball past the Keadue 'keeper. Keadue were then reduced to ten men in the aftermath of the goal and it was very much game on. Donegal dominated proceedings from then on but could not find the net, with the Keadue defence remaining resolute under pressure. An excellent effort from all players, with manager Benny Byrne delighted with his squads efforts on Sunday, and indeed all season. Well done boys on a great campaign.
