St.Nicholas 1-11 v 0-8 Westerns
HT 1-8 v 0-2
On a windy Saturday evening in Jimmy Pentony park, it was St.Nicholas who came out on top of last seasons top two from 3b. In the proverbial game of two halves' the Nicks raced into a lead with the wind at their backs with points from Lee Kavanagh, Caebhan Housidari and the impressive Fionn Meagher. The visitors kick out was under serious pressure and following a steal from St.Nicholas, Meagher found the back of the net to extend the lead. Points from Paudi Downey and a two-point conversion from Alex Finneagan had the home side up by 9 at the break.
The men from Reaghstown were more direct in the second half, putting pressure on the Nicks full back line but some resolute defending limited the Westerns to single points and no chance of goals to narrow the gap. Points from Shane Downey, another Paudi Downey free and a late Cian Flynn point ensured the two league points stay in Drogheda along with last seasons Division 3b title.
