St.Nicholas have opened their Division 3 with two wins from two following a hard-fought victory in Omeath on Saturday evening. The visitors had the breeze at their back in the first half and used the advantage to take the lead through 2-pointers from Phillip Kirwan and Shane Finegan. Paudi Downey added two frees following a goal for the Gaels. Cian Flynn added another 2-pointer just before the break to have the Nicks up by one at the break.
The second half was a battle of attrition with Barry Woods and Ruairí Hanlon impressing in the Nicks defence. Cuchulainn upped the pressure and took the lead at stages in the half. Another Paudi Downey free midway through the half Drew St.Nicholas back all square. With time running out Dylan Brogan pushed the Nicks ahead and a final Downey free secured the win for St.Nicholas.
