Clonmel Celtic fell to a 2-0 defeat to Cahir Park in a keenly contested game at Celtic Park yesterday. For the second successive week Celtic will feel a little hard done by that they didn't get anything from their efforts yesterday. Once again failing to create enough clearcut chances was their downfall. There wasn't much in this game in the early stages. The visitors hit the front on 13 minutes when Niall Daly was on hand to slot home from close range when the ball dropped to him from a rebound. Celtic fought back and Ewan Rumble was inches away from tieing up the game before the break. The pattern remained the same in the second half with Celtic pushing for an equaliser while Cahir always remained dangerous on the break and Willie O'Dwyer came close on 51 minutes with a shot that was just off target. Celtic were having the bulk of the possession at this stage as they began to increase the pressure and came desperately close on 57 minutes when Keenan Kerton saw his header come back off the crossbar and Cahir keeper Evan O'Neill got down well to push away Kyle Cuddy's follw up. Kyle Cuddy came even closer two minutes later when his free kick just needed a touch to find the net but skipped past the far post. Celtic had strong claims for a penalty waved away and in the last minute a mistimed tackle in a Cahir breakaway resulted in a penalty that Willie Dunne converted to seal the win for the visitors.
