It was Kilbeggan who were quickest out of the traps as they raced into a two-point lead. St Lomans settled into the game and a great run from Fola Ayorinde saw him raise the white flag. Ayorinde turned provider soon after to set up Kevin Regan who popped over to equalise.
St Lomans made a game changing substitution with TJ Cox introduced after 15 minutes and his introduction had an immediate impact with him scoring two points in as many minutes. James Cox pointed a free before his name sake TJ added to his tally to extend the blues lead. Conradh Reilly who had a fine game particularly some top class passing throughout pointed from a placed ball before Kilbeggan’s target man Nigel Scally kicked two points before the break to see the scores 0.07 to 0.04 at the interval.
Kilbeggan made the perfect start on the resumption of play when they rattled the net to raise the green flag. Sean Lancaster pointed for the blues before a speedy run from Chris Gilbert saw him bury to the net. While Kilbeggan responded with two points it was St Lomans who controlled the final quarter with resolute defending at a clinical spell in front of goal.
